The best time for the Poon Hill Trek is the autumn months of (September - November) and the spring months of (March-May). The weather remains stable and pleasant in these months, along with less precipitation. Moreover, the humidity is also low, and you will get the sharpest views of the mountains.

Spring

The trails of the Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek get incredibly beautiful in spring. Moreover, the active wildlife and variety of birds found during the Trek are enchanting. The moderate temperatures in the daytime are ideal for a trekking adventure.

Autumn

The summer-monsoon treks provide green landscapes and vegetation and are perfect for botany enthusiasts. Moreover, the atmosphere around the place looks lovely after heavy rainfall. However, the risks of avalanches and landslides also increase during the monsoon season.

How complex are 6 Days Ghorepani Circuit Trek?

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek for six days in the Annapurna Region is ideal for trekkers of all skill levels. This short Trek is less challenging than popular Treks like the Annapurna Base Camp Trek and the Everest Base Camp Trek.

The trail passes through lush alpine forests and also the stony stairs of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP). You will trek for 4-5 hours daily during the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek for six days. The thousands of stone stairs of Ulleri might be challenging for some trekkers. But with a gradual pace, steady climb, and proper rest, you can quickly complete this Trek.

The heavy rainfall in the monsoon season might cause landslides and avalanches. Besides that, you might also have to face leeches and slippery trails. However, these are a minor nuisance; you can use insect repellents and sturdy boots to overcome these challenges. Overall, the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek 6 Days is a relatively easy trek, and anyone with a basic fitness level can complete this Trek.

Detailed Itinerary - Ghorepani Poon Hill 6 Days

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (1400m)

Maximum altitude: 1400m

Drive duration: 6-7 hours

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek for six days starts with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (1400 meters). The 6-7 hours bus ride takes you along the green hilly landscapes and rivers. Alternatively, you can take an early morning flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu. The view of the pristine Trishuli and Marshyangdi rivers is fantastic.

The magnificent landscapes of the surroundings, terraced farmed hills, and scattered settlements along the highway will mesmerize you. After arriving at Pokhara, you can relax at the hotel and stroll around the Lakeside area next to the pristine Phewa Lake in the evening. The lakeside area is a famous tourist hub with many cafes, restaurants, nightclubs, bars, pubs, etc. You will stay overnight at the hotel in Pokhara.

Day 2: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and Trek to Tikhedhunga (1540 m)

Trekking distance: 9.5 km

Drive duration: 2 hours

Trek duration: 4-5 hours

After early morning breakfast, we make our way to Nayapul from Pokhara. Nayapul is just a 2-hour drive from Pokhara. From Nayapul, your trek journey officially starts. There is a Birethanti check post where you have to your permits and complete all the formalities before the start of the Trek.

You will pass through the Magar villages of Birethanti, Sudame, and Hile village to arrive at the famous village of Tikhedhunga. The Trek journey is 9.5 km and takes around 4-5 hours, and we stay overnight at a teahouse in Tikhedhunga.

Day 3: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2860 m)

Maximum altitude: 2860 m

Trekking distance: 12 km

Trek duration: 6-7 hours

After breakfast, we start our trek for the day from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2860 m). The trek to Ghorepani is 12 km long and takes 6-7 hours. You will pass through the scenic village settlements of Ulleri, Nanggethanti, and Banthanti to arrive at Ghorepani.

The trail also passes through the famous stone stairs of Ulleri during the trek. We pass through the lush alpine forests and scenic waterfalls before arriving at our destination for the day. We stay overnight at a teahouse in Ghorepani.

Day 4: Trek from Ghorepani - Poon Hill (3210m) - Ghandruk (1940m), Overnight Stay at Ghandruk

Maximum altitude: 3210 m

Trekking distance: 14 km

Trek duration: 7-8 hours

We start the Trek early in the morning with a 45 minutes hike to Poonhill (3210 m) from Ghorepani. From the Poonhill viewpoint, you can observe the breathtaking sunrise views and majestic Himalayan panorama. After the awe-inspiring sunrise view, we descend to Ghorepani for a delicious breakfast and resume our Trek.

Our trails converge with the Annapurna Base Camp trails towards the Ghandruk village. After covering a total distance of 14 km and a hike of almost 7-8 hours, we arrive at the beautiful village of Ghandruk (1940 m). We stay overnight at the scenic homestays of the Gurung community.

Day 5: Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul and Drive to Pokhara

Maximum altitude: 1940 m

Trekking distance: 8.6 km

Time duration: 4 - 5 hours

After breakfast, we observe the majestic mountains of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre Himal from the viewpoint. We then continue our Trek towards Nayapul, walking through the stone stairs to arrive at Syauli Bazar.

The 8.6 km Trek passes various village settlements and arrives at Nayapul after a Trek of almost 4 - 5 hours. From Nayapul, we take a two-hour scenic bus ride to Pokhara. We can stroll around the Lakeside area in the evening and observe the vibrant atmosphere. We stay overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.

Day 6: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu

Drive duration: 6 - 7 hours

After breakfast, we take a scenic drive to Kathmandu from Pokhara as our Ghorepani Poon Hill trek of 6 days ends. The bus ride passes through the winding hilly highways, and we can observe the excellent mountain vista of the Annapurna range from the windows. After a ride of almost 6-7 hours, we arrive at the capital city of Kathmandu.
