About Lodge, Food, and Drink During Short ABC Trek

There are somewhat lodges along the Short ABC Trekking trail. You reach Chhomrong on the first day after leaving the car in Jhinu. Chhomrong is a big village, so you get accommodation quickly on the first day. Afterward, you go to Himalaya Hotel, crossing Sinuwa, Bamboo, and Dovan.

There are limited lodges after you cross Chhomrong village. So, if you are a solo trekker, you probably need to share accommodation in these areas during the busiest times, like October, November, March, and April. The rooms are clean, with comfortable beds in the guesthouses. Every guesthouse has one quilt and pillow on each bed, but you must bring a sleeping bag for the Trek.

For the food, you will have a food menu in the lodge where you stay. You can order the foods from the menu with Western and local food items. It means you do not always remain with local dishes during this 5-Day Short ABC Trek. It is a sacred region, so they do not have meat items on their food menu after Sinuwa until the Base Camp.

The Short Annapurna Base Camp Trekking region has a unique management system, so they control plastic. You can not buy bottled water during this Six-Day ABC Trek after Chhomrong. The guesthouses sell boiled and filtered water that you can fill in your bottle, costing 100 to 200 NPR.

After breakfast at the hotel in Pokhara, you start the trip around 8 am with a jeep drive to Jhinu today. You will drive through hillside roads seeing beautiful landscapes, mountains, farming terraces, rivers, waterfalls, and more.

After getting off the jeep, you walk about 15 minutes to the lodge to Jhinu and have lunch. And then trek to Chhomrong on a steep trail for another 2 to 2 hours and a half.

The day begins with descending a trail through the village, walking on the stone steps today. After walking to the bottom of the village, you cross a suspension bridge and ascend another hour and a half to Sinuwa. You enter the forests after Sinuwa, reach Bamboo in a 2 hours walk from Sinuwa and stop for lunch. Still, you have forests, another 2-3 hours to Himalaya from Bamboo, and see beautiful waterfalls and temples along the way.

It is a special day because you are reaching the leading destination and will see amazing views. After walking for around 2 hrs, you reach Deurali, and the trail goes flat. The next place after Deurali is MBC; you will be above the tree line from here. You walk another two hours on a gradual ascend and flat trail to ABC after a lunch break in Machhapuchchhre base camp.

After enjoying the early morning views, you start walking back through the same way, passing Deurali, Himalaya, and Dovan to Bamboo. Today, the trail is just descending, So; you feel more comfortable walking.

The day begins with ascending the trail and walking on stone steps in the morning today. You trek for around an hour and a half to 2 hrs to reach back Sinuwa and then walk down another hour to the bottom of Chhomrong village. Here, you start climbing on long stone steps through the village again for half an hour to 45 minutes and stop for lunch. You have a steep descending trail for 45 minutes to Jhinu Danda after Chhomrong. You can go for a hot spring after taking a short break at the guesthouse in Jhinu in the evening.

What Makes 6-Day ABC Trek Difficult?

Most people finish the Annapurna Base Camp Trek in 10 days. The 6-Day ABC Trek is, of course, rapid trekking so it might have some difficulties. What should be the difficulties that you may face during the trek? Check them below:

Altitude Sickness

This Short Annapurna Base Camp Trekking goes directly from 820m to above 2000m, then treks to the base camp in two days. Going rapidly to a higher elevation might be a cause of getting Altitude Sickness. It won’t be a problem for everyone, but it can be difficult for some trekkers.

Long Trekking Camps

You must rush to complete the Trek in 6 Days, so you must walk a Long Trekking Camp on this trip. A Long Trekking day can make you tired and maybe cause of getting altitude sickness. On the way up, you will have two long trekking camps from Chhomrong to the Himalayas and ABC, but returning will be easier.
