Kanchenjunga Trek Equipment List
Trekking to the Nepalese Himalayas will be cold and other challenges. Here are the lists of the gear for the Kanchenjunga region trek. Every piece of equipment should not use for every trekking package. We do have the pre-trip meeting before the tour and will consult more. If you have any confusion about the equipment, feel free to ask through email by mentioning the fact gear.
Breathable Underwear
You trek 4- 7 hours daily and need a few pairs of comfortable and breathable under wares.
Thermal Layers
The Thermal layer is compulsory when you are above 3000 meters all trekking season. It is not recommended lower area, but if you trek during late autumn and winter, it is better to wear from the beginning to avoid any problem from the cold. You might sweat while you walk, so you must take off this when you reach the camp and change another.
Trekking Shirts
It would be best to have a few trekking shirts for walking, which should be a quick-dryer ones. The full and half shirts for different climates and altitudes are highly recommended. Fabric-breathable shirts are the best for trekking.
Fleece Jacket
The Fleece jacket keeps warm, so pack this in your day pack and can use it while you rest along the trek. It doesn't block the wind. You should wear a down jacket when you are in a freezing area.
Down Jacket (Feather Jacket)
A down jacket is mandatory in a High and cold regions. It is beneficial in the lodge when you rest. You may wear it during the walk in the higher places and an early morning hike.
Hiking Trousers
A few pairs of long and short trousers are recommended while you wear them during the trek. Shorts are for the lower region, and long trousers are for higher elevation.
Waterproof Jacket and Trousers
Walking in higher elevations is cold and windy, so a waterproof jacket and trousers are the most brilliant idea. It rains and snows sometimes; they are beneficial for quick wear.
Sun Hat
The sun hat is highly recommended to protect your face and head from heat. Pack the cap, which has the cover behind the back neck.
Woollen Hat
The woolen hat is the most important to keep the ears warm from wind and cold. It may be the best wear on the head for the early morning hike and evening in higher places.
Buff
A buff is essential to protect the neck from the cold and block the dust during the trek.
Inner Gloves
A pair of warm thin inner gloves are handy in the cold area. You can use them while you trek in cold temperatures and must wear the more giant windproof gloves in early morning hikes and high passes.
Outer Windproof Gloves
While walking in cold and wind, outer windproof gloves are necessary. Especially hiking early morning for the viewpoints, current, and high passes trails, you must wear them.
Hiking Boots
Nice-quality hiking boots are highly recommended. If you have cheap quality boots, they may have a problem for the trek and don't find the shoemaker everywhere in the mountain.
Sports Shoes and Sandals
While you stay at the lodge, you can wear sports shoes to keep your feet warm. The hiking boots should have sweat then will be cold, so if you change the sports shoes, it might be the most brilliant idea. Sandals are good when you go to the washroom at night and for the shower.
Trekking Socks
The water in the mountain is cold, so you can't wash your socks, then you need to have a few pairs of trekking socks with you. It might have sweat while you trek, so we recommend using fresh and dry socks in the cold area, on morning hikes, and the high passes.
Fingers and Toe Warmer
If you trek from November to February, the temperatures will be minus degrees in the mountain and freezing, so keeping your fingers and toe; the fingers and toe warmer is very useful. Put inside the boots and the gloves and trek in the Himalayas.
Duffel Bag and Rucksack
Duffel bags and Rucksacks are the leading equipment to put all the trekking gear carried by the porters.
Daypack
The daypack is the vital equipment to carry your valuables, pair of warm clothes, rain cover, and snacks during the trek. You may not see the porter along with the trail if you need the rain cover and warm layers while you rest on the way between the camps to keep them with you inside the daypack which you carry.
Sleeping Bag and Liner
The best sleep makes you fresh and energetic; you need a warm sleeping bag for the trek. If you trek during the autumn, minus 20 or above and 10 for the spring is nice. A sleeping bag liner is good and makes it warmer for your sleep.
Earplugs
The wall of the lodges doesn't block the sounds from the next room, and you also may have your roommate who snores. Then if you have earplugs, they won't disturb your sleep.
Trekking Poles
You don't think I am strong enough and don't need the trekking poles. If snow, ice, and mud are on your trail, the trekking poles help. Sometimes, walking a few hours downwards may have a knee problem and some blisters, so take the trekking polls with you.
Head Torch
Not every trekking area has electricity, and even the places with electricity also may not always be, so a headlamp is highly recommended, and for high passes/sunrise trips from the lodge also needed.
Sunglass
UV protection sunglass is compulsory to use in the mountain. When the sun's rays reflect from the snow, it will be very bright. UV-protected sunglasses are needed to protect the eyes and be safe from snow bind.
Crampon
The crampon is good equipment for high-pass trekking in Nepal. It will be very supportive to walk on the slippery snowy path.
Extra Camera Batteries
Extra batteries are highly recommended for mountain trekking. When you are in a colder place, the battery's power will be degrees soon; you may miss capturing some beautiful photos. For this case, having extra camera batteries is an excellent idea.
First Aid Kit
Trekking in the Nepali Himalayan region may have travelers diarrhea and mountain sickness. So first aid kit is highly recommended for trekking in Nepal.
Gaiters
Gaiters are recommended for high passes trekking. It controls the snow going into your boots and prevents trousers from getting wet. They are good to use on muddy trails too.
Lip Balm and Moisturizing Cold Cream
The wind and cold temperature crack the skin of the face and lips then. Lip balm and moisturizing cold cream are beneficial.
Multi Uses Power Socket and Battery Charger
The electric power socket may not fit your battery charging, so good to have multi uses power socket and camera battery charger.
Plastic Bag
To protect your valuable stuff from rain or mistakenly dropping into the water, so always keep with plastic cover or bag when you don't use them.
Quick Drier Towel
After washing yourself, you need a towel, so the quick drier towel is better to take with you. It is light and beneficial.
Rain Cover and Bag Cover
I can't say about the weather in the mountain, so you need to have rain cover with you and to protect your stuff from rain and dust you better have them with you.
Soap and Shampoo
When you have a spare day or reach early to camp, you can wash your smelly socks, and you will be sweaty during walking; soap for washing and Shampoo for the shower is compulsory.
