Kali Gandaki Valley Trek is also known as Jomsom Muktinath Trek as well as Muktinath Pilgrimage Trek. It is located in the lower Mustang region. It is relatively an easy trek. Muktinath temple is located around 3800 meters, so acclimatization is needed to avoid the mountain sickness. Trekkers can see different snow-capped Himalayas and diverse flora and fauna. During the trek, you walk through the deepest gorge of the world- Kali Gandaki.
Barley, rice, millet, potatoes and other seasonal vegetables are grown in the trekking area. The first part of the trek is to Poon Hill. It is the best viewpoint of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri region white peaks, hills and gorges. Walking through the rhododendron forest, you reach Tatopani (natural hot spring). After heading through the bank of the Kali Gandaki River, the jaw-dropping rock walls make the trek awe-inspiring. The sacred stone (Shaligrams) are found at the bank of the River. Several waterfalls lie on the way. Reaching to Kalopani and Marpha, you move towards Kagbeni, which is a gateway of Upper Mustang. The apple orchard in Kaligandaki valley trekking is wonderful. Marpha is known as delightful apple capital city of Nepal and they also make Brandi, cider and Apple pie from apple. Thakali people from Thakkhola are renowned for serving delicious meals. Typical Nepali food- Dal Bhat is what they offer the most delicious. Muktinath temple is a step ahead from here. Muktinath trek is equally popular for the pilgrimage devotees. Hindu and Buddhist followers conduct this journey to avoid their sins of the lifetime. The trek ends in Jomsom after you retrace from Muktinath.
